OUR STORY

Nora and Kepa, best friends and creative partners, met 13 years ago in West London. From the very beginning, they bonded over a shared love for hair artistry, self-expression, and the transformative power of a great style.

What started as long conversations about trends, techniques, and dreams slowly grew into something much bigger — a vision. They didn’t just want to open a salon; they wanted to create a space that felt different. A space where creativity meets comfort. Where every client feels seen, heard, and confident.

That vision became Rust and Roots.

Welcome to The Salon, based in the heart of Homerton. We’re two best friends rebranding the salon in 2025 and bringing our own signature style to the space. With a quirky, industrial vibe and a relaxed, creative atmosphere, The Salon is where individuality is celebrated.

We specialise in creative cuts and colours — from bold transformations and statement shades to soft, lived-in tones and precision tailoring. Every service is designed around you, your style, and your confidence. Whether you’re after something edgy, effortless, or completely transformative, we’re here to make your hair feel as unique as you are.

NORA

Nora is fascinated how her work can completely change not just how people look but also how they feel about themselves. Therefore, she constantly work on improving her skills, learning techniques, experimenting and keeping it up to date with current trends. Working with all types of hair, she enjoy doing different haircuts & colors and the process of finding a client’s own style. Through the years of her work colors became her most well-known specialist. SANTANA 

SENIOR STYLIST

Santana lives in between London and Milan/Turin Italy. International hair stylist with over decade experience she turned lifelong dream into a career built in creativity. Specialist in colour correction and blondes, over the years she developed wide ranges of tequniques to work with all type hair textures/types. When she’s not with bleach and foils in her hand she’s walking in the park with Izzy her Italian Greyhound and Chilli her cutie Podenco. On top of this she’s a mother of 3 which makes her a Superwoman. Come and get here whilst she’s in London , usually in for 2 weeks on and off.

KEPA

Kepa has been a hairdresser for 19 years, 14 of which were in London. London inspires me, allows me to constantly grow and learn something new every single day. I love all aspects of hairdressing. At this moment of my career, I’m in love with pastel blondes with all techniques either balayage - ombre or deep-dye. Also, I like to create men’s hairstyles either edgy or nice and neat classic styles, and love to give bleach color works to them. He is the scissors king and enjoys creating movement/texture to your hair.

Originally from San Sebastián , Kepa loves to just seat with a well brewed cuppa and get inspired but Hackneys multi-cultural scene.

CARMEN

SENIOR STYLIST

Carmen started her hairdressing journey 20 years ago in her natal Germany. Carmen specialises in creating effortless, wearable hair tailored to each client working with natural texture hair, whether curly/wavy/straight hair to find the perfect cut and colour that suits your lifestyle. Carmen’s goal is that you achieve a natural look that is easy to maintain and feels is uniquely yours. On her free time you can find carmen on the dance floor to Dum’N’Bass or having nature walks. 

JUNIOR STYLIST

RACHAEL

Rachael been more than 4 years in the house. She brings her good energy, with a keen eye for detail, committed to delivering excellent customer service, contributing to the success of the salon team. She also does a killer head massage , she is toners queen and she makes best coffee. From now Rachael has started accepting Roots colour jobs , global permanent semi-permanent colour jobs, Get her while she’s fresh out of oven.
